RAITE 715 FAQ's and 3H UPGRADE TIPS

Click Here to view our current selection of DVD Players

Digital Output

The Raite 715 is factory set to digital off. If you are using the spdif or optical outputs , In the setup menu select digital on, Digital output RAW. This will feed the Dolby digital signal to your amp. General reports find using the spdif better and the cable is included

Is Multiregion Legal ??

Our understanding is that this is completely legal. The separate regions are to allow the movie studios to release movies at different times around the world. If you have purchased the DVD  movie legally anywhere in the world it is completely legal for you to play it on your machine.( Subject to censorship laws of course)  The system basically lets the studios rip off people in different regions by charging different prices in different regions and offsetting release dates. TOTAL SCAM BY HOLLYWOOD

Is Disabling Macrovision Legal??

Macrovision  stops you from copying DVD movies onto you VCR.  This is totally illegal unless you are the holder of the copyright of the DVD . When you rent a movie you are granted permission to watch it only and only for the period of the rental.  When you buy a movie your rights still only allow you to watch it. You are not allowed to disable macrovison to record the movie.   If you disable Macrovision in order to plug your your DVD player into a TV without AV jacks via your VCR , Macrovision says this is illegal and they say you should not do it but should spend $ 30 at Radio Shack for a demodulator or buy a new TV.  Well nice of them to spend your money for you. They did 50 Million in revenue last year ,maybe ask them to buy you a new TV ( yeah right) In defense of the studios, movies cost big bucks to make and they are a business ,not a charity and what the hell, who wants to watch a dvd  movie on a old 20 inch anyways. Mitsubishi has a great 80 inch for 10k

Does 3H Void my warranty??

The 3H upgrade is a European firmware and  contains "options "not approved for American markets. Due to licensing issues installing 3H will void your warranty. It is highly recommended that you run your machine for a period to check for any defects prior to upgrading.

I read 3H can fry my machine

Some people have fried the units using hacked 3H, They have changed the firmware to install a different screen save picture on the screen or not followed the procedures. ie saved a dollar by using a CDRW or didn't close the disc. The firmware we provide was developed by the Manufacturer specifically for use in Europe on this machine. . It will not fry your machine  unless you power down during the upgrade . Of the hundreds of upgrades our customers have done, not one has had a problem. Please follow the tips below. DO NOT MODIFY THE FIRMWARE..  Changing the picture may seem like a great idea, but you are changing the firmware and can result in a failed upgrade which will require a new Eprom ( 25 including shipping)

 UPGRADE TIPS

If you wish to do the 3H upgrade to obtain Multiregion  capability or Eliminate problems with your 3E firmware please follow these few simple tips.

Do not use a cheap CDR  disc.  I use  Maxcell discs ( gold label)  and have never had a problem.   DO NOT USE A CDRW for the upgrade. Be sure to close the disc after recording.

I recommend the Adaptec image file listed on this site.  I have had no problems with this at all,  but note the other files also work if you don't have Adaptec. BE SURE TO UNZIP THEM.. Also follow instructions to the letter. If you power the unit down during the upgrade, you will have to replace the Eprom chip ( 25 dollars including shipping from pixie)
RECORD DISC AT 1X speed
If you follow these simple tips you should have no problems at all upgrading. If you are nervous or don't have access to a CD Writer we can provide a disc and instructions  for 9.99 ( 20 us if you didn't buy the machine from us)

41L firmware....NOT RECOMMENDED ...POSSIBLE DOORSTOP MAKER  ..3H made by Raite, 41L made by German Hackers, who would you trust, especially now that chips are no longer available

3E Stuttering: 202H Bios upgrade 2.0

If you have a older 3E machine and have upgraded to 3H but still see occasional studdering you may wish to upgrade the DVD drive BIOS to 2.0  This is a simple process which simply involves removing the drive from the Raite and plugging it  into your computer just like a CDROM drive and running the upgrade. If you aren't comfortable doing this, any computer shop can do it for you. You can download the file and instructions here. NOTE: opening the cover will void the warranty and UNPLUG THE MACHINE BEFORE OPENING COVER, EVEN  WITH THE POWER OFF THE RAITE HAS LIVE  POWER INSIDE

UNIVERSAL REMOTE CODE

The universal remote code for the Raite 715 is reported to be  TV/OO27  I haven't tried this so if you do and it works please inform me at admin@netbored.com

How do I record a MP3 Disc

Please read the following instruction page, Hope it helps

RECORDING MP3 DISK HELP

HEAT PROBLEMS

There is rumors of a heat problem on this machine. I have not seen this and have never received a complaint from any of my customers in regards to this. But please note. The Raite 715 has holes in the bottom but none on top or back so it is possible that if placed on top of a amp it may collect residual heat from the amp. Please consider this when installing your unit.
