1. What is the quality of the
recordings (audio & video)?
The quality of the recordings is VHS video quality. The audio output is
MPEG I audio quality. The output of the recorded media depends on your
input source. Example if your input source is from a VHS source, then you
will get VHS quality. If your source is from a DVD source, you will get
MPEG 1 video quality. The machine also accepts digital audio source in to
be recorded onto CD.
2. Will it record on the 80
minutes CD-R blanks?
Yes. The recording time is based on the CD-R or CD-RW media length.
Note ON CDRW . The terapin will allow to to erase individual files
on the CDRW disc, once the disc is finalized the Terapin cannot
erase individual files but will erase the whole disc
3. What if I have a movie that is
longer than the disc can hold?
The Terapin CD Audio Video recorder records up to 74 minutes (present CD
availability). You will need 2 CDs to complete the movie recording. Pause
your recording before the 74 minute time frame, and remove that disc, then
insert another disc, start the recording process again.
4. Is the encoding done in real time (Is recording done
on the CD-R while VCR source is playing)?
Yes, it is real time recording. Note : To finalize the disc takes two
minutes after recording stops
5. Can I record just audio
instead?
The Terapin CD Audio Video Recorder can record both Audio & Video
input signals, which means that you can compile all your favorite songs
into a CD-R/CD-RW with our Terapin CD Audio Video Recorder. All you need
is to plug in an audio source (from Hi Fi system, Discman etc) using
standard RCA jacks or digital optical input.
6. Does the CD created by Terapin play on a DVD set-top
player?
Yes, the CD will play on any DVD player capable of playing CD-R or CD-RW
media. To find out if your DVD player is compatible, contact your DVD
manufacturer and ask if your system plays CD-R or CD-RW media. Please
note: for video cd your DVD player must be VCD compatible, Most new ones
are but check!!!
7. Do I need a PC to use the Terapin?
No, you do not need a PC to record video with the Terapin. The Terapin
operates virtually the same as a regular VHS recorder, no PC required.
8. What kind of video connections is there on the
Terapin?
On the rear of the Terapin there are composite (RCA) and S-Video
connections, inputs and outputs. There are also composite video inputs on
the front of the unit.

On the rear of the Terapin there are composite (RCA) and Digital
connections, input and outputs. There are also composite (RCA) inputs and
outputs on the front panel as well as an Optical in.
10. How do I see the on-screen menu?
Using the remote, locate the "M" just below the "9" on
the numeric keypad. Press this button and it will display the current
settings for the Terapin.
11. I don't get any video through the Terapin when I'm
trying to record, what am I doing wrong?
Make sure you have selected to appropriate input device (VIDEO IN) using
the on-screen menu. Once you've selected the correct input remember to
press CONFIRM.
12. The video is delayed when I'm recording, what's
wrong?
The video will be delayed when you pass the signal through the Terapin,
showing you what you will be getting on your CD once recorded. You can
disable this by going to the on-screen menu and changing the Monitor to
DISABLE.
13. How do I get the unit to record?
When you're ready to record, press the RECORD button on the remote or
on the Terapin unit (unit is in Standby Mode), now play your source video
and then press CONFIRM on the remote or Terapin unit. Beware there is a
short delay before recording starts. To confirm the Terapin is recording,
look on the Terapin set top display, the counter numbers should be
advancing. Note: When finalizing the unit will only accept the
confirm command for about ten seconds,
14. Is the CD created on the Terapin multi-session?
Yes, you can record various tracks (sessions) on a single CD, as long as
you don't finalize the disc. Once you finalize the disc, you cannot add
additional data to that disc.
15. How do I finalize a CD on the Terapin?
Once you've completed your recording, and you know you don't want to add
any more video to the disc, press the FINALIZE button on the remote, then
press the CONFIRM button. The finalization process takes two minutes to
complete (countdown displayed on screen). Once this process is complete,
you can take the CD out and play it on other devices.
16. Is the Terapin NTSC and PAL compatible?
Yes, using the on-screen menu, you can select which standard you want
to use.
17. How do I view the video on my PC?
To view the files on a PC, place the Terapin CD in your local CD or DVD-rom
drive and launch your media player (i.e. Windows Media Player or Real
Player). Using the FILE drop down menu, select the files located on the CD
Mpegav folder. Make sure you display "all files" to see the .DAT
files. The files are laid out in the order they were recorded. Please note
the discs must be finalized to be read on a PC
18.What format does the Terapin record?
.DAT files, the files are Mpeg compatible. You can move the files to your
hard drive, and rename the .DAT files to .MPG and the files can be
auto-run using whatever media player you have as a default.
19. How many lines of resolution does the Terapin
have?

20. What's the best quality video to record from on
the Terapin?
Betacam SP and DVD, or digital video is the best source material to use to
record from.

Will the Terapin copy dvd movies.
The
terapin VCD writer unit will copy dvds without the use of any
macrovision disabler . Simply connect using the SVHS cable and audio cable
and record. NOTE The disc will be at VHS quality , not at DVD quality.
( some artifacting but not enough to take away from the enjoyment of the
movie. )
