Epson launches a new range of desktop mobile projectors designed for ease of use

Offering a range of features to enhance connectivity, ease of use, speed, brightness and resolution, Epson’s EB-8 Series of projectors has been developed with user friendliness in mind.

2 February, 2009 – Epson, the global leader in the projector market , today announces the launch of four fast and easy to use desktop mobile projectors, developed with simplicity in mind. The new Epson EB-8 Series succeeds the immensely popular EMP-83H and EMP-822H projectors, further enhancing connectivity, brightness and resolution. Other technological innovations include the introduction of wireless options.

Graeme Davidson, Senior Product Manager at Epson UK commented: “The EB-8 series has been designed with the needs of our customers in mind. Epson recognises that an easy-to-use projector can significantly enhance the customer experience and play an important role in the purchase decision. These new products really address all the needs of the educational and corporate markets.

“Extended connectivity, improved brightness and higher resolution make the EB-8 Series a step forward within the category, and set the benchmark for the mobile desktop projector segment.”

Usability and efficiency are improved thanks to the quick start up feature. After switching on any model in the EB-8 Series, images are projected within seconds. USB connectivity means the projectors can be easily connected to your computer or laptop via a standard USB cable. The Automatic Driver Installation takes just 25 seconds to detect and self-configure the USB drive on first connection, thereafter providing an ultra quick connection every time you start-up. Flexibility is key to the EB-8 Series with automatic Vertical Keystone correction ensuring a well squared screen is projected every time. The flexible x1.6 optical zoom allows easy presentation in small or large classrooms and meeting rooms. The EB-826W model offers WXGA resolution widescreen capability; providing 30 percent extra screen space compared to XGA resolution and making it the ideal companion for widescreen laptops. These projectors can even be monitored over a network using Epson’s innovative EasyMP® technology, making it possible to check lamp hours and status remotely.

One of the most noticeable features of this new series of projectors is the wide connectivity options offered to both educational and corporate users. Newly added USB-B, microphone inputs, two computer RGB inputs, wireless options and connectivity with Epson’s new document camera, now allows for a greater number and variety of devices to be connected to the EB-8 Series. Adding to the superior capabilities of the EB-84, EB-85 and EB-826W, the high-end EB-825 offers an outstanding Colour Light Output (CLO) of 3000 lumens. Through the dramatic improvement of Epson’s pioneering E-TORL lamps and innovative 3LCD technology, now in its twentieth year, projection is possible in any lighting conditions, with great colours and exceptional overall quality every time. In Eco mode, an Epson lamp now has an outstanding lamp life of 6000 hours, lowering the total cost of ownership to users and the impact on the environment. Epson’s E-TORL lamp can achieve a Colour Light Output of 3000 lumens using just a 200W lamp.

As with all Epson products, environmental performance has been a primary consideration and each model is exceptionally energy efficient. The materials used to produce the EB-8 Series are recyclable and innovative technologies such as E-TORL and 3LCD ensure the projectors are running at optimum environmental efficiency, reducing energy use.

Graeme Davidson continued: “At Epson, meeting the needs of our customers is our number one priority. Reflecting Epson’s leadership in innovative technologies has ensured the EB-8 Series of desktop mobile projectors is setting the standard in the education and corporate projector markets.
