Tokyo, January 8, 2009 - SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. (SANYO) announces its newest DLP® projector to the line-up, the PDG-DHT100JL projector. SANYO has offered DLP® projectors in addition to the broad line-up of LCD projectors since last year. This new projector is the brightest*1 of its class with an incredible 6,500 lumens, and is compatible with Full HD signal, allowing bright high definition, high resolution projection of the highest quality available, making it perfect for digital advertising (electronic advertising) and design/CAD applications. Also, as the projector has also been designed to be compatible with SANYO's optional Uncompressed HD*2 DATA WIRELESS Transmission System, this projector can be used to project beautiful high definition even over long distances up to 30 meters*3 without the worry of cables. Additionally, the PDG-DHT100JL has been designed to have higher resistance to dust with the newly designed encapsulated optical engine and the use of SANYO's proprietary 'Active Maintenance Filter' (AMF) for the industry's longest-lasting*4 filter, allowing enough airflow to keep lamp area cool without bringing in all the dust. The PDG-DHT100JL will be on sale in Japan starting from the end of March 2009.
This projector will be on display in Amsterdam, Holland at the "Integrated Systems Europe 2009" show to be held from February 3 to February 5.

- Bright 6,500 lumens projection answers growing needs in the digital signage market area when used in brighter environments
- Brightest of its class*1 projection made possible from two UHP lamps, each outputting 330-watts, and a twin color wheel system which have largely increased the light output efficiency
- Designed to handle Full HD (1920 x 1080) high quality resolution image projection, meeting the changing needs of the marketplace from to the more widespread use of high definition input signals
- Attention to detail and accuracy in image projection allows use of the projector in more demanding situations, such as design or CAD specialized fields and applications

*1 As of the time of sales at the end of March, 2009, for 2-lamp Full HD 1-chip DLP® projectors

2. Compatible with latest in uncompressed HD*2 DATA WIRELESS transmission optional adapter allowing incredible image quality even from long distances

- New projector compatible with uncompressed HD*2 DATA WIRELESS Transmission System announced by SANYO in August 2008
- The Uncompressed HD*2 DATA WIRELESS Transmission System allows pure uncompressed data transmission without delays between the video and sound
- Technology in wireless system allows uncompressed data even from distances of up to 30 meters*3 away from the input source
- Easier set-up for place such as large event halls and other large rooms/theaters as it eliminates the need to feed cables and run wires from sources to projectors

*2 HD stands for high definition of 1080i or 720p
*3 Actual Distance is dependent of a variety of environmental conditions

(For Reference) About the Uncompressed HD*2 DATA WIRELESS Transmission System
The Uncompressed HD*2 DATA WIRELESS Transmission System is based on advanced wireless transmission technology that achieves both high definition/resolution video quality and long-distance transmission. Within technology that performs the operations of wirelessly transmitting video signal, there are primarily two types: 1) the type that compresses the video as it comes out from the original signal and then transfers the data, and 2) the type that leaves the video uncompressed and transmits the untouched data.
When comparing the two types of transmissions, the uncompressed transmission type is advantageous as there is no degradation in signal caused by the conversion to a compressed format, as is used in the compressed video type of transmission. Also, there is no inherent delay in the uncompressed format as there was no intermediary step needed in order to prepare the video for the wireless transmission.
Traditionally, as the amount of data that was to be transmitted became larger, the distance that the data could be sent over wirelessly became shorter. The Uncompressed HD*2 DATA WIRELESS Transmission System that is an option to this new projector has been able to overcome the traditional weakness of distance by using signal in the 5GHz bandwidth, and, by adding a number of antennas to enable the transmission of a large amount of data at one time, the product is able to achieve cleaner images and eliminate unsightly delays, making projection of high definition and high resolution images possible at the incredible distance of as much as 30 meters*3 between the source of transmission and the receiver.

*2 HD stands for high definition of 1080i or 720p
*3 Actual Distance is dependent of a variety of environmental conditions

3. Equipped with new, dust-resistant sealed optical engine and the Industry's longest-lasting*4 30,000 hour-use filter 'Active Maintenance Filter', for cleaner and highly durable projection

- New, improved sealed optical engine cooling design to prevent dust build-up, maintaining optimal brightness and contrast, problems that traditionally are difficult to overcome, causing reductions in projection quality
- Improved air control for more flexibility in using the projector in a variety of environments
- Equipped with replaceable 'Active Maintenance Filter' for the Industry's longest lasting*4 30,000 hour-use automatic reel filter cartridge to prevent dust from entering the lamp area, while still allowing enough airflow to help the area to remain cool
- Longer durability and reliability from the increased dust resistance and longer lasting filters

*4 As of the time of sales at the end of March, 2009 (Based on JIS D-0207 accelerated testing environment conditions)

4. Other Features

- Compatible with 2 different types*5 of user-changeable color wheels allowing high brightness and rich color reproduction
- Equipped with 'Edge Blending' function that allows what feels like boundary-less images with multi-image display possibilities
- Built-in 'Color Matching' function correcting variations in color reproduction when using more than one projector
- Realizes vertical 360 degree tilt angle projection allowing projection positions from the ceiling or floor, breaking from traditional projection settings
- Advanced lens functions with 'power vertical/horizontal lens shift' function and 'lens center layout' symmetrical design
- Capable of projecting two images simultaneously either using built-in picture-in-picture mode or picture-by-picture mode
- Open expansion Interface Board allows for a variety of optional products

*5 The projector comes with a color wheel set optimized for higher brightness at the time of shipping. A color wheel set optimized for rich color reproduction is included in the package.

Outline and Background

As the use of high definition equipment such as televisions rapidly expands, video contents have also quickly adjusted to meet the changing needs. The projector market for products with 5,000 lumens or more that are compatible with HD signal has also seen significant growth annually and is a market expected to still experience growth.
The PDG-DHT100JL, having the brightness of 6,500 lumens, the top of its class*1, is also compatible with the latest in Full HD signal and can be used to project images with incredible clarity even in brighter environments.
By adding compatibility with the latest in uncompressed HD*2 DATA WIRELESS transmission technology as an optional product, rich and beautiful high definition video contents can be sent from up to 30 meters*3 away, meaning easier set up in places like large event halls or other large meeting rooms.
Furthermore, with a newly developed sealed optical engine and by using the Active Maintenance Filter, the PDG-DHT100JL realizes not only reductions in the amount of trouble caused by dust, but also achieves an improvement in durability suitable for long-time use.

*1 As of the time of sales on March 19, 2009, for 2-lamp Full HD 1-chip DLP® projectors*
*2 HD stands for high definition of 1080i or 720p
*3 Actual Distance is dependent of a variety of environmental conditions
