Toshiba Launches Premium Slim Projector With Closed Captioning Capabilities

New TLP-X150U Mobile Projector Offers 2,600 ANSI Lumens, 3LCD Technology and Toshiba’s Three-Year Standard Limited Warranty

IRVINE, Calif., (Oct. 7, 2008) — A leader in creating innovative mobile computing products, Toshiba’s Digital Products Division, today announced the launch of the mobile, 3LCD TLP-X150U projector with closed captioning that can deliver a “PC-free” presentation, thanks to a built-in USB port in a slim form factor. The projector is affordably priced at $959 (MSRP)1 and is covered by Toshiba’s three-year standard limited warranty2.

Weighing just 4 pounds and measuring less than 3 inches tall, the TLP-X150U is perfect for mobile professionals, educators, corporate customers, small-to-medium businesses or for portable digital entertainment. The mobile TLP-X150U produces superior image quality with 2,600 ANSI lumens, a contrast ratio of 600:1, and XGA native resolution of 1024 x 768 and Toshiba’s unique Natural Color Enhancer5 which provides an advanced color correction circuitry that makes presentation colors exceptionally sharp and vivid.

“With the addition of the TLP-X150U to Toshiba’s lineup of mobile projectors, professional presenters can benefit from the slim form factor solution in education settings, in the business place and for digital home entertainment,” said Jane Poon, product marketing manager, Digital Products Division, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. “The TLP-X150U utilizes Toshiba’s Natural Color Enhancer5 technology and the integration of closed captioning technology to provide an audience with superior images and the ability to read the screen to reinforce visual learning.”

The Toshiba TLP-X150U projector includes the following leading-edge technologies:

  • Slim Form Factor: Weighing just 4 pounds, the TLP-X150U projector’s slim form factor is less than 3 inches high and about the size of a hardback novel, making it easy to transport while traveling or moving from meeting to meeting. The projector comes with its own carrying case and can be stowed in an airline overhead bin or carry-on bag.
  • Closed Captioning: This advancement allows the audience to read text or dialogue from a DVD player or television signal, benefiting viewers who may be hard of hearing, learning a new language, beginning to read or in a noisy environment.
  • USB Port: This option allows on-the-go professionals the option to deliver a “PC-free” presentation by simply storing the presentation in a JPG format and plugging the USB thumbnail drive into the USB port, taking advantage of the TLP-X150U projector’s enhanced mobility.
  • “Blackboard” Function: This feature allows presentations to be made on non-screen surfaces, such as a painted wall or a blackboard, for ultimate mobility. Users simply select a wall color, such as green, black, brown, blue or beige, and the projector automatically corrects the color for a clearer display in almost any environment.
  • Quick-Power Shutdown: Some projectors require that the fan stops completely before unplugging the projector to save on wear and tear of the lamp. The Toshiba TLP-X150U projector can be powered off once disconnected from the outlet with no cool-down time required.
  • Automatic Vertical Keystone Correction: This feature instantly projects a square image even when the projector is placed at a steep offset angle of plus or minus 45 degrees to the screen.
